~~The sandwich analogy~~
As can be expected for all new people, for the first few years of my life I was incapable of making myself a sandwich. There were just way too many unknowns and a total lack of coordination. I was very fortunate that my parents took care of me and nurtured my own natural growth towards being my own maker of sandwiches.
Learning anything new is just like learning how to make a sandwich. Many educational experiences involve a teacher telling students “how to do something” or “what something means”. And then that’s it. It’s similar to demonstrating to a child how to make a sandwich and then walking away, leaving them home alone. There may be some benefit, and yet the child’s full needs will not be nurtured. On the other extreme, there are some teachers who hold their students hand the whole way to the point of smothering attention. This only serves to discourage the empowerment needed for each individual to find the truth from within.
My parents treated every step with so much care and love. Where to find the sliced cheese. How to cut a tomato. How to put bread in a toaster oven without burning myself or the bread. The utmost compassion and patience was required for me to develop the competent skills to become, as I am today, a proficient and competent sandwich maker. Mind you I seldom eat sandwiches these days.
In the same way, this is exactly how I choose to hold space as a teacher of astrology.
